FileMaker Web Specialists

Intermediate FileMaker Pro 9

Intermediate FileMaker Pro 9 is a two-day course that gives students who are already familiar with FileMaker Pro basics the opportunity to enhance their skills.
Students are given an in depth walk-through of the user interface with special attention given to tools that the beginner may not be familiar with. In addition, attendees will learn best practices for designing interfaces and data structures. Advanced portals techniques will be introduced and students will learn how to use scripts to make data entry easier and more efficient for end users.
The class takes a comprehensive approach to report design. It teaches students to create advanced summary reports without relying on the Reports Assistant, imparting an in depth understanding of the different report elements. Students will also learn how to make reports more flexible by writing scripts that allow users to select only the data they want to see in the report.
The class concludes by introducing advanced scripting techniques, including script variables and error capture. Due to the basic similarities in data structure and user interface between FileMaker Pro 9 and previous versions, the majority of material covered in this class can be applied to any database created in FileMaker Pro 7, 8 or 8.5.
