Quality AssurancePerhaps contrary to popular opinion, we believe that quality can be relative. An application destined for a small workgroup of highly skilled operators may have a relatively high tolerance for small kinks and unexpected occurrences - skilled operators can work around short-term quirks, and the perceptions of our clients' customers are unlikely to be affected. Large, public-facing applications, with hundreds or even thousands of users, are another story. The public perception of our clients may be at stake, and even a very minor oddity in software can generate anxiety and support calls in a large user base. We help define an appropriate level of quality assurance that reflects the criticality of the system in question, timing, project budget, and the degree of participation a client's staff is willing and able to provide. |
